Counseling

The practice of mental health therapy has been said to be a blend between art and science. I uphold this philosophy recognizing the artful process of meaning-making while also grounding the experience in practical evidence-based tools.

I approach my work from a relational and trauma-informed framework. My aim is to create a safe and trusting therapeutic environment that equips clients to achieve their individual goals ultimately enriching their lives.

I work with all sorts of folx, but many of my clients are women and young adults presenting with major life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or sexual harm.

Therapy Approach

I recognize that each person is unique and that not all identities are adequately represented within the research data on various types of therapy. As a result, I work to tailor my approach towards each person's unique experience and needs. I use an integrative psychotherapeutic approach drawing from a variety of clinical modalities (listed below). This means that I draw from different types of therapy to make the process specialized to you and your needs.

  • S.A.F.E. EMDR (Saftey, Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR)

  • Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy

  • Advanced Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Commercial Sexual Exploitation

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

  • Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation

  • Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Strengths-based theory

  • Internal family systems theory / Parts work

  • Somatic psychology and breath work

  • Mindfulness

  • Creative expression and arts

  • Film/cinema therapy (Point of View Story)

Throughout the course of therapy I work alongside clients to identify effective tools that reduce suffering and increase life’s meaning and joy.

I have a Master of Social Work Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and I hold clinical licensure in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas. I am professionally accountable to state licensing boards and the NASW Code of Ethics to pursue ongoing professional development. As such, I am routinely pursuing additional training to bolster my skills and practice methods.

Details

Online Therapy / Telehealth Only

At this time all sessions are held via a HIPAA-compliant online therapy platform and can take place with or without video.

Billing

Full payment is due at the date/time of session. I do not accept insurance, however, I am able to offer superbills (itemized, coded medical receipts) for those who seek to utilize out-of-network benefits with their insurance plan. Find out more on the FAQ page under "Do you accept insurance?"

Why do you only work with therapy clients in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas?

At this time, clinical licensure varies by state meaning that each state has it's own independent licensing board and requires that a therapist be licensed in the state in which they are serving clients. I have engaged in work in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas which is why I am licensed and can provide services in these three states.
